Jackson from Belsan?s Bait reported that fishing is still very good along the beaches, rocky shorelines and cliffs in 5- to 10-feet of water, especially during the evening tides. The fall run has begun and there have been some hot bites at Minot Ledge and at the mouth of the North River which have both been extremely consistent all season. Mackerel remain hard to find and catch. You have to go early in the morning if you expect to have any decent results. Cod fishing has been very good at Stone Ledge and Stellwagen Bank. With the commercial tuna season closed until October 1st, shark fishing remains a good option as well as fishing for medium sized bluefin.

Jackson from Belsans Bait reported striper fishing remains pretty much unchanged from last week. Slower than the same time last year and everyone is eagerly waiting for big schools of migrating stripers to invade the South Shore. Mackerel have been a bit scarce lately but there are some reports peanut bunker along the beaches which is striper candy to migrating striped bass heading south on their annual fall migration. When that happens the cliffs and beach areas will be prime for some hot fishing action from both boat and shore. There are still bluefish in the area being caught out between 20- to 50-feet of water by boat fishermen trolling swimming plugs. The North River and the mouth of river has been consistent all summer for striper fishing. Cod fishing has been very good and available on most of the inshore rockpile and ledges as well as Stellwagen Bank. Stone Ledge has been a local inshore hot spot that has been producing good results. A few of Belsans customers steamed out there early Sunday morning and quickly limited out. The cod season will run through on October 31st. Belsans is open seven days a week.
